Hong Kong’s 0 to 0.1 incubation program (video)

Stepcase, along with local startup aNobii and with support from Chinese University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong, organized and launched a local incubation program for university students called 0 to 0.1, a first of its kind program for students who are interested in web entrepreneurship. 0 to 0.1 is a 13-week long program (the duration of their summer vacation) in which selected teams will build and launch their idea from ground up. Our founder Leon Ho and aNobii founder Greg Sung will lead the teams through the program with weekly meetings and workshops to ensure they are executing as a team and are progressing smoothly.

We have included video from our information session held back in May at City University of Hong Kong. The program was conducted mainly in Cantonese with a portion of it in Mandarin. Aside from Leon and Greg, the info session included speakers from two other startups, David Lee of EditGrid and Geng Chun-ya of EastSpider.

If you want to follow these startups, stay tuned as we will introduce the teams and their ideas in future posts.

Wordcamp Hong Kong 2009

Wordcamp Hong Kong was held for the very first time in Hong Kong last week. It was the first time for local bloggers and Wordpress users to come together to learn about the blogging platform we all use and love from the founder himself. Matt Mullenweg, founder of Wordpress, flew in and shared with local bloggers about everything from Wordpress history, upcoming Wordpress 2.8, BuddyPress, P2 to his thoughts on Open Source and everything in between.

As we are Wordpress users ourselves, the company blog and the Stepcase Lifehack blog, Leon Ho gave a presentation on how Stepcase Lifehack uses Wordpress to collaborate and manage a blog with multiple contributors and the processes involved. The presentation is below if you guys are interested in how we do it. (more…)
